Our Rescue Mission

The Siberian Husky Club of America believes the rescue of our breed is a necessary task that must be undertaken. In an effort to encourage and support the Regional Clubs or Independent Member Groups in their rescue endeavors, we have prepared suggested guidelines, plus samples of various forms and contracts that will be of assistance in setting up a rescue program.

Siberian Husky Rescue requires the commitment and assistance of key people within a group whose goals are to aid stray animals or remove animals from shelters or homes where they are no longer wanted and place them in permanent, adoptive homes. Rescue personnel are called upon to evaluate dogs for temperament, health, desirable or undesirable traits, transportation to and from veterinarians and foster homes, etc. It is important to spend time educating potential owners in order to maximize the chances the dog will remain in the new home.

Other basic functions and/or responsibilities of a rescue organization are to prepare documents such as adoption contracts, foster home agreements, foster care records, release/surrender forms, follow-up reports, etc. In addition, finding foster homes, fundraising, and advertising are crucial activities for a successful rescue group.

The more rescue groups in operation around the country, the stronger the possibility of creating a network. The greater the network, the more Siberians saved.

The homeless, unwanted, and often abused Siberian Husky is depending on you! The Siberian Husky Club of America salutes all rescue volunteers and wishes you the best of luck.
